Sprite Smash

"It needs work, but it's hilarious!"

submission: Sprite Smash
date: November 12, 2007

This game's gameplay isn't a whole lot more than pushing the A and S keys to fight off swarms of enemies, making it pretty much a button-masher. Plus, it isn't even all that difficult. You can pretty much build up your special meter as soon as the boss fight starts, and then use the special to kill the boss in nearly one blow. Also, it might have been smart to map the special to a separate button instead of pressing the A and S keys simultaneously, for I often found myself using the special accidentally during the stage. That being said, what this game lacks in depth it makes up for in sheer hilarity. The choices of characters are pretty amusing, and I liked the fact that I could play as Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert, two my childhood idols. The animation of the sprites, or lack thereof, is also pretty funny. And finally, the specials. I don't want to spoil them for other players, but each character has their own, and they're all really funny. If you ever make a sequel, I suggest putting in Colin Mochrie and Ryan Stiles as a playable team.

Author's Response:

Who and who? Sure whatever...i'll put it in the sequel.

Haunted Video Games pt.3

"Hah!"

date: November 1, 2007

You guys are great. Here I thought you were gonna be Mario and Luigi, the essential video-game siblings. But you guys are either way too smart or way too dumb to think of that. The A and B buttons from the NES controller. Awesome.

Hero WAR Battle of Titans

"I'm impressed."

The animation didn't blow me away, but some scenes were really good, such as the Chuck Norris/300 and Kratos/Galactus ones. I like how you ended it with Johnny Knoxville, too.

My friend, that was some of the finest parody I have seen on Newgrounds. Good job, and I can't wait for the full-length one!

Cannon Bods

"Best game in its class!"

submission: Cannon Bods
date: March 18, 2007

Graphics: Some of the pirate designs were really funny, even though they were still ridiculously simple.
Style: Very quirky. The concept, like the graphics, manages to be simple and ridiculous at the same time.
Sound: Who can argue with the Globetrotters theme?
Violence: It's pirates getting shot out of cannons and ricocheting off other pirates.
Interactivity: The gameplay is an addictive mix of bust-a-move and old arcade shooters, and the difficulty curve was just steep enough.
Humor: See violence.

Summer Camp: Episode 1

"Very nice."

date: January 19, 2007

I liked this submission. A couple of the jokes were kinda stale, but the other jokes and fantastic artwork and animation more than made up for it. Plus the time-traveling bears. That almost perfectly parodied every single crappy "anthropomorphized animals who fight evil" cartoon ever made. And I will tell you, there are quite a few of those. My favorite of the characters would have to be Mr. Norris, a perfect cartoon representation of every gay, overenthusiastic camp counselor on the planet. Overall, it was pretty good. Keep it up.

Author's Response:

Thanks for the compliments, but I must insist that Mr. Norris is not gay!

Sure, he may be a little bit enthusiastic and sometimes a little feminine, but he is not a homosexual!

Nice and random, just the way I like it. *puts song in his itunes* Reminded me of Andy Milonakis, and I LOVE HIM! Oh, and by the way, this is DJ, from camp last summer. I was the kid who always got pissed off at stuff and was a munchkin when you were the tinman.

Author's Response:

lol, HI DJ

Mr. Sunsneezer two reviews below me, that song was from Queen. The song used in the movie was a cover made by Weird Al Yankovic.
